โ˜… Best PickA+Best Full Wardrobe System

IKEA PAX is a flat-pack wardrobe frame system: frames come 50, 75 or 100 cm wide, 35 or 58 cm deep and 201 or 236 cm tall, and you add hinged or sliding doors (or none) plus KOMPLEMENT interior fittings โ€” clothes rails, shelves, drawers โ€” that can be rearranged later. IKEA rates a 100 ร— 58 cm KOMPLEMENT shelf at 20 kg and a 100 ร— 35 cm shelf at 12 kg, with the weight evenly distributed. The shelves are particleboard with paper foil, so keep them away from direct moisture. IKEA's US buying guide says PAX frames must be secured to the wall, and the US PAX/KOMPLEMENT limited warranty runs 10 years.

Pros

  • Enclosed wardrobe with hinged or sliding doors hides clutter completely โ€” no visual noise in the room
  • Interior fittings are swappable: add drawers, clothes rails or shelves without buying a new frame
  • 10-year limited warranty on frames, doors and KOMPLEMENT organizers (IKEA US terms)

Cons

  • Particleboard shelves can swell if exposed to direct moisture โ€” avoid damp spots without ventilation
  • Must be secured to the wall against tipping (US: hardware for your wall type sold separately); moving it after installation is a project
