VetriScience Composure has the most rigorously documented formula in the over-the-counter calming category. The Colostrum Calming Complex has undergone palatability and safety trials, and the thiamine-L-theanine combination is well-dosed. At 60 chews for $28 the per-dose cost is slightly higher than Zesty Paws, but the formula credibility makes it the recommended option for dogs with documented anxiety diagnoses where owners want maximum evidence quality.
Pros
- Proprietary colostrum compound with study support
- Veterinarian recommended
- Soft chew form most dogs accept
Cons
- 60-count is shorter duration at 30 days for large dogs
- Some dogs find the flavor less appealing than meat-based chews
