IKEA HEMNES Nightstand

Solid pine nightstand with one large 6-in deep drawer and lower open shelf. White stain or black-brown finish. 18x14 in surface.
IKEA's Hemnes nightstand is the budget recommendation that keeps being correct year after year. The solid pine construction is genuinely more durable than MDF alternatives at the same price. One large drawer (6 inches deep) and a lower shelf give it more storage than any comparable piece under $200. Available in painted white or black-brown โ both work in most bedroom contexts. The drawer handle is a simple round pull. No USB or wireless charging integration, which is the main functional gap compared to contemporary alternatives. But for pure storage value and solid construction at this price, Hemnes remains the standard.
Pros
- Solid pine construction is more durable than MDF at same price tier
- Large 6-inch deep drawer plus open lower shelf for maximum storage
- Proven design in continuous IKEA production
Cons
- No built-in charging integration โ separate cable management required
- Painted finish chips at edges with regular contact over time
