Adjustable metal arm table lamp with matte black powder-coat finish. E26 socket, max 40W. Cord switch at convenient position. Height adjustable.
IKEA's Ranarp is an adjustable metal arm lamp with a matte black powder-coat finish that costs under $40 and outperforms lamps at three times the price functionally. The articulating arm adjusts from a wide ambient angle to a focused task position โ more flexibility than most fixed table lamps. The metal shade concentrates light downward, making it ideal for reading or desk use rather than ambient room lighting. The on/off switch is on the cord at a convenient position. The Ranarp has been in the IKEA line for years without changes because it already works correctly.
Pros
- Adjustable arm directs light precisely for reading or task work
- Durable matte black powder-coat resists scratches
- Cord switch is conveniently positioned for daily use
Cons
- Opaque metal shade provides task light only โ not an ambient light source
- Industrial aesthetic doesn't blend into all interior styles
