Clip size and capacity
Medium clips around 1.25 inches wide are the common choice for documents. The ACCO listing gives a 1-1/4 inch width and 5/8 inch capacity, and the Amazon Basics listing gives 1.26 inches wide with a capacity of 145 sheets or 0.61 inch.
The Officemate Micro listing gives a 1/2 inch width and 5/32 inch capacity, which suits a few sheets rather than a thick stack. The Mr. Pen assortment mixes four sizes from 0.6 to 1.25 inches.
Quantity and value
The packs range from 12 clips in the Officemate Easy Grip pack to 172 in the Mr. Pen assortment. A larger count helps if you clip often, while a small pack is enough for occasional use.
The ACCO set has 24 clips in 2 boxes of 12, the Amazon Basics pack has 96 clips in 8 packs of 12, and the Officemate Micro tub holds 100.
Handles and finish
Most listings describe tempered or metal clips with folding handles. The Officemate Easy Grip listing says the handles can be used upright, flat or removed, which helps when clips hang from a board or sit flat under a binder.
The Easy Grip pack comes in assorted metallic colours, while the ACCO set is black. A colour mix can help sort piles by topic, though the listings do not promise any particular result.
