A pet gate is a measuring job before it is a shopping job. Opening width, gate height, whether it screws into the wall or presses into the frame, and whether you can walk through it without lifting it out all change which one fits your hallway.
Quick answer
The MYPET Paws is the lowest-priced here at $24.99 on Amazon US on November 3, 2026, and the PRObebi retractable mesh is $29.99. The Carlson with a small pet door is $39.99, the Cumbor auto-close steel gate is $89.99, and the Snuowu, listed from 51 to 87 inches tall for cats, is $121.46.
📋How we compared
We have not installed or used these gates ourselves. How steady a gate feels, how a latch behaves with a determined pet or whether a child can open it only shows up in daily use, which we cannot run. This comparison is built from the product titles and feature lists on the Amazon US listings, retrieved through the Amazon Creators API on November 3, 2026, and general knowledge of how pet gates work. Widths, heights and every other statement are the sellers' own claims, and none of the listings is a promise about stopping a particular animal or child. Prices move often, so check the retailer.
💰 Lowest price: The MYPET Paws is a plastic pressure-mounted gate that is 23 inches tall and fits openings from 26 to 40 inches. The listing mentions rubber bumpers set higher to clear up to 4 inches of molding, a curved handle and a Made in USA label.

Width and height
Start with a tape measure. The MYPET fits 26 to 40 inches and stands 23 inches tall, the Carlson fits 29 to 36.5 inches at 30 inches tall, and the Cumbor fits 30 to 46 inches at 30.5 inches. The PRObebi mesh extends from 0 to 54 inches at 34 inches tall. The Snuowu fits 29.5 to 40.5 inches wide with two extension kits and adjusts from 51 to 87 inches high.
The Carlson listing says it does not fit openings between 32 and 34 inches, and the Cumbor listing asks you to measure at both the top and the bottom of the opening. A gate that is a little too wide or too narrow is a gate you cannot use.
Pressure mount, hardware or retractable
The MYPET, Carlson and Snuowu are pressure-mounted, and the Snuowu also includes a hardware kit. The Cumbor offers pressure mounting for doorways and hardware mounting for stairs and busy areas. The PRObebi is different: a mesh panel that rolls into a housing, which the listing says is supplied with anchors and screws.
The PRObebi and Snuowu listings mention stairs. Check each manufacturer's instructions before putting any gate at the top of a staircase.
Walking through and small pets
The Carlson has a 16.5-inch walk-through opening with a one-touch latch and a small pet door meant to let cats pass while larger dogs stay in. The Cumbor closes by itself behind you, and the PRObebi and Snuowu describe one-hand operation. The MYPET has no door in the listing; you lift it out of the frame.
The Snuowu listing quotes a 1.57-inch bar spacing, which matters if you have a kitten or a small puppy.
