Garmin announced the Edge Explore 3 and Edge Explore 3 Plus on October 20, 2026. The two GPS cycling computers are aimed at cyclists of any skill level and show essential ride data, maps and alerts on a vivid, responsive touchscreen. Both models are available now. The Edge Explore 3 has a suggested retail price of $399.99 and the Edge Explore 3 Plus is $499.99.

Navigation is the core of the lineup. Both models offer bike-specific maps and turn-by-turn directions, plus route options that compare rides by time, total elevation and bike type. Up Ahead shows the nearest selected points of interest, such as coffee shops or restrooms, along a route, and road hazard alerts flag potholes, closures and even aggressive animals reported by other Garmin cyclists. Free Flow Routing finds routes with fewer stops and intersections, and pin drop navigation lets riders send a pin from Google Maps or Apple Maps on a compatible smartphone to the Edge for a bike-specific route.

The Explore 3 Plus adds a built-in speaker and microphone. Riders can use voice control to request a new route, ask for in-ride stats, report a hazard or change screens hands-free, and send voice messages through the on-device Garmin Messenger app. The speaker plays incoming voice messages, reads out stats and navigation prompts, and doubles as a digital bike bell to alert pedestrians. Garmin notes that voice control is available in select languages.

For training, free Garmin Cycling Coach plans adapt to performance, recovery and course demands when used with a compatible Garmin smartwatch or heart rate monitor, and Garmin Link automatically connects a paired watch to show wrist-based heart rate. The computers connect to compatible eBike systems from Bosch and SHIMANO to show battery status and assist level, and a commuter profile tracks carbon savings. Safety features include LiveTrack location sharing, incident detection, real-time weather alerts and compatibility with Varia radars and smart lights.

Battery life is rated at up to 16 hours for the Edge Explore 3 and up to 14 hours for the Explore 3 Plus in the most intense use cases, with both reaching up to 48 hours in battery saver mode. The release does not list colors or specific retailers beyond garmin.com.
