Apple announced a new iPad mini on October 26, 2026. It moves to an 8.5-inch OLED display that Apple says has better contrast and more than double the peak brightness of the previous iPad mini, with a Nano-texture option to cut glare.
The body is 5.4 mm thin and meets IP67 for water and dust resistance. It comes in midnight and starlight with 128GB, 256GB or 512GB of storage.
Inside is the A20 Pro, built on a 2-nanometer process. Its 7-core GPU has a Neural Accelerator in each core, and Apple cites up to 4.5x faster AI performance and up to 2.7x faster graphics than the previous generation. The 512GB configuration adds a dual 16-core Neural Engine.
A 12MP Center Stage front camera sits on the long edge, and an Acoustic Display improves bass. Apple's N1 chip brings Wi-Fi 7, Bluetooth 6 and Thread, and Wi-Fi + Cellular models use the C2 modem. The tablet ships with iPadOS 27 and supports the next generation of Apple Intelligence and Siri AI.
In the U.S., the iPad mini starts at $699 for the Wi-Fi model and $849 for Wi-Fi + Cellular, or $649 with education savings. The new TechWoven Smart Folio is $79, Apple Pencil Pro is $129 and Apple Pencil (USB-C) is $79.
Pre-orders start Wednesday, October 28 at apple.com and in the Apple Store app. Deliveries begin, and the iPad mini reaches Apple Store locations and Apple Authorized Resellers, on Friday, November 6.
