Apple announced HomePod mini 2 on October 13, 2026. It is priced at $149 in the U.S. and comes in five colors: pink, green, blue, white and midnight. Pre-orders opened the same day, and Apple says the speaker will be available in stores beginning Friday, October 30.
HomePod mini 2 runs on the Apple S10 chip. Apple says it delivers 360-degree sound and uses computational audio to analyze music in real time, and that it can be used alone, as a stereo pair or in a multiroom setup. Paired with the new Apple TV 4K (4th generation), four HomePod mini 2 speakers can form a surround sound system for the first time; Apple says the speakers recognize their position in the room and calibrate timing and levels automatically.
A new feature called Sound Glow turns the top of the speaker into a light surface that glows and pulses in sync with music, reacting to bass and treble, with colors drawn from the album artwork of the song that is playing. The speaker can also serve as a speaker for Mac; a footnote says this works on Mac computers with Wi-Fi 6E or later, with a single HomePod or a stereo pair.
Siri AI is not on the speaker at launch. Apple says it is coming to HomePod mini 2 in a future software update and will be available in English in the U.S., Australia, Canada, India, New Zealand, Singapore, South Africa and the UK. The release does not give a date for that update. Apple says HomePod mini can recognize up to six users in a household by their voice.
For the smart home, HomePod mini 2 works as a home hub and responds to voice commands for accessories and scenes. Sound Recognition listens for a smoke or carbon monoxide alarm and sends a notification to the user's iPhone, iPad and Apple Watch.
Apple's announcement does not list dimensions, weight or connectivity specifications for the speaker.
