Best Guitar Wall Mounts 2026: 5 Hangers Compared

Updated 2026-10-05
A wall hanger is a small purchase that holds an expensive instrument by the neck. The differences that matter are easy to miss in a product photo: how much weight the maker rates it for, whether the yoke closes around the neck, which headstock shapes it accepts, and what hardware comes in the box.
Quick answer
For most guitars the Hercules GSP38WB PLUS is the pick: its Auto Grip System yoke swivels and locks the neck in place, Hercules rates it for 7 kg (15.4 lbs) and neck widths of 40-52 mm, and its official US store lists it at US$27.49 (checked October 5, 2026). The String Swing CC01K is the simpler US-made hardwood option at US$18.99 with a 15 lb limit and a lifetime structural warranty. The Openhagen HangWithMe (US$69) is the one to choose if the hanger itself should look good on the wall: it folds flat when empty and carries the highest stated limit here, 25 lbs (11 kg). The Gator Frameworks GFW-GTR-HNGRBLK is the cheapest at US$15.99, and the König & Meyer 16280 is a compact hanger with a self-locking yoke.
We have not tested these hangers on a wall. This is a comparison of manufacturer-published figures, and no hands-on testing was done. Weight limits, materials, fit, included hardware and prices come from each maker's official product page as of October 5, 2026. Where a page does not state a figure we say "not stated on the official page" instead of guessing. A stated weight limit applies to the hanger, not to your wall: what the screws are driven into decides how much the installation really holds. Finish compatibility is mentioned only where the maker addresses it. Prices are the makers' own store prices in US dollars; retailer prices will differ.
🏆 Best Overall: The GSP38WB PLUS has the most complete specification of the five. Hercules describes an Auto-Swivel Auto Grip System yoke that turns to suit different headstock shapes and locks the instrument in place, on a wood base meant for home or studio walls.

Rated 7 kg (15.4 lbs) for neck widths of 40-52 mm. Two M4 x 45 mm screws are listed; plan anchors to suit your wall.
The GSP38WB PLUS has the most complete specification of the five. Hercules describes an Auto-Swivel Auto Grip System yoke that turns to suit different headstock shapes and locks the instrument in place, on a wood base meant for home or studio walls. The official page gives a load capacity of 7 kg (15.4 lbs), a 105 mm (4.1 in) arm, neck widths of 40-52 mm, and attached N.I.N.A. inserts that narrow the arms for instruments from 28 mm such as banjos and mandolins. Two M4 x 45 mm screws are listed, and Hercules' US store shows US$27.49. Watch-outs: the page does not list wall anchors, does not state the yoke padding material, and says nothing about nitrocellulose finishes.
Pros
- ✓Auto Grip yoke locks the neck in place
- ✓Rated 7 kg (15.4 lbs), necks 40-52 mm
- ✓Inserts for narrow necks from 28 mm
Cons
- ✗No wall anchors listed with the screws

2🪵 Best Simple Hardwood HangerString Swing CC01K
15 lb limit per hanger. For wider classical or bass necks String Swing recommends the original CC01.
The CC01K is a plain, well-documented hanger: a padded steel yoke on a hardwood block that String Swing says is made by Amish craftsmen from North American lumber, in cherry, oak, ash or black walnut. Its deep Guitar Keeper cradle is shaped so the guitar cannot be seated improperly, and the yoke pivots for different headstocks. The maker states a 15 lb limit per hanger, includes mounting hardware, and backs it with a lifetime structural warranty; its store lists US$18.99. String Swing also publishes a nitrocellulose statement, which is candid that no unconditional guarantee is given. Watch-outs: the cradle does not lock, and wider classical and bass necks are directed to the original CC01.
Pros
- ✓US-made hardwood block in four woods
- ✓15 lb limit and lifetime structural warranty
- ✓Published nitrocellulose statement
Cons
- ✗Open cradle with no lock
- ✗Wide classical and bass necks need the CC01
3🎨 Best DesignOpenhagen HangWithMe Guitar Wall Mount
This model is for symmetric (3+3) headstocks. For Stratocaster- or Telecaster-style headstocks choose the HangWithMe Electric model. Openhagen offers free shipping on orders above US$199.
HangWithMe is for people who care what the wall looks like when the guitar is in their hands. It is a disc 11 cm across and 2 cm deep that unfolds into a cradle and folds flat again, made of solid wood, oiled cork and anodized aluminium to a design by the Danish duo HarritSorensen. Openhagen states a 25 lb (11 kg) weight limit, the highest stated figure here, a 55 mm opening and a weight of 190-220 g, and ships it with two mounting screws and a manual. Oak and walnut are US$69 and stained oak US$79. Watch-outs: it costs several times more than the others, has no lock, and this model fits symmetric (3+3) headstocks only; Stratocaster- and Telecaster-style headstocks need the separate Electric model.
Pros
- ✓Folds flat into a wooden disc when empty
- ✓Highest stated limit: 25 lbs (11 kg)
- ✓Solid wood with cork-lined contact points
Cons
- ✗US$69-79, far above the others
- ✗Symmetric headstocks only; no lock

4💰 Best BudgetGator Frameworks GFW-GTR-HNGRBLK
Gator says it is safe for standard polyurethane finishes and not recommended for vintage or lacquer finishes.
Gator's hanger is the cheapest here at US$15.99 on the maker's site and comes ready to fit: mounting screws and drywall anchors are in the box, a black plate hides the hardware, and a foam pad keeps the plate from marking the wall. The rubberized swivel yoke takes electric, acoustic and bass necks up to 2 inches (51 mm), and the standoff clears straight and angled headstocks. Gator backs Frameworks stands with a 3-year warranty. Watch-outs: the page does not state a weight limit, there is no locking mechanism described, and Gator itself says the hanger is safe for standard polyurethane finishes but not recommended for vintage or lacquer finishes.
Pros
- ✓Lowest price here: US$15.99
- ✓Screws and drywall anchors included
- ✓Plate hides the mounting hardware
Cons
- ✗Weight limit not stated on the official page
- ✗Not recommended for lacquer finishes
5🔒 Compact Self-Locking HangerKönig & Meyer 16280 Guitar Wall Mount
The official page gives no weight limit or price. Confirm both on the retailer listing before buying.
König & Meyer calls the 16280 its best guitar holder. It is a small screw-mount hanger, 94 x 66 x 138 mm and 0.15 kg, in plastic and steel, with flexible support arms covered in non-marring rubber and a yoke the data sheet lists as self-locking. It is listed for acoustic and electric guitars and comes in black, cork and a white version with translucent supports. It ranks last here only because the official page leaves the most unanswered: the weight limit, the supplied fixings, neck width and price are not stated on the official page, so check the retailer listing before ordering.
Pros
- ✓Self-locking yoke
- ✓Compact: 0.15 kg, 94 x 66 x 138 mm
- ✓Non-marring rubber on the support arms
Cons
- ✗Weight limit not stated on the official page
- ✗Price and supplied fixings not stated
König & Meyer 16280 Guitar Wall Mount
Product details →Weight limit: what the makers actually state
Three of the five makers publish a weight limit. Openhagen states 25 pounds (11 kg) for the HangWithMe, Hercules lists a load capacity of 7 kg (15.4 lbs) for the GSP38WB PLUS, and String Swing gives 15 lbs per hanger for the CC01K. The Gator Frameworks and König & Meyer pages do not state a weight limit.
These figures describe the hanger. The wall is a separate question. String Swing's instructions cover driving the screws into a stud or, where there is no stud, using the drywall anchors, and Openhagen says plainly that adhesive strips and gel pads are not strong enough and that the mount must be fixed with its two screws. Whichever hanger you buy, plan the fixing for your wall type before you hang an instrument on it.
Locking yoke or open cradle
The hangers hold the neck in two different ways. Hercules' Auto Grip System yoke swivels to the headstock and, in the maker's words, locks the instrument in place. König & Meyer lists the 16280's yoke as self-locking. These suit rooms where a guitar may be bumped.
The String Swing CC01K uses an open, deep cradle the maker calls the Guitar Keeper, shaped so that the guitar cannot be set on it improperly; the yoke pivots but does not close. The Gator hanger has a rubberized swivel yoke with no locking mechanism described. The Openhagen HangWithMe is an open fold-out cradle lined with cork, with no lock.
Headstock shape and neck width
Fit is where the Openhagen differs most. The standard HangWithMe has a 55 mm opening and is made for symmetric (3+3) headstocks. Guitars and basses with an asymmetric, six-in-line headstock such as Stratocaster and Telecaster shapes need the separate HangWithMe Electric Guitar Wall Mount, which has a 60 mm opening and the same US$69 price. Order the wrong one and the guitar will not sit correctly.
The yoke hangers adapt by pivoting. Hercules states 40-52 mm neck widths and includes its N.I.N.A. inserts for narrow necks from 28 mm, such as banjos and mandolins. Gator states neck widths up to 2 inches (51 mm) and clearance for straight and angled headstocks. String Swing recommends the CC01K for acoustic, electric and many bass guitars but points owners of wider classical and bass necks to its original CC01 and suggests measuring the neck first. König & Meyer lists the 16280 as suitable for acoustic and electric guitars and gives no neck width.
Finish safety and what is in the box
If your guitar has a nitrocellulose lacquer finish, read the maker's wording before buying. Gator states that its hanger is safe for standard polyurethane finishes and not recommended for vintage or lacquer finishes. String Swing says its padding has so far not been shown to react chemically with nitro finishes, but it does not give an unconditional guarantee and sells a cloth cradle cover for sensitive finishes. Openhagen says the cork lining protects the instrument from scratches and does not mention nitrocellulose. The Hercules and König & Meyer pages do not address lacquer finishes.
Included hardware also varies. Hercules lists two M4 x 45 mm screws. Gator includes mounting screws and drywall anchors. String Swing says mounting hardware is included and its instructions refer to drywall anchors. Openhagen ships two mounting screws and an instruction manual. The König & Meyer page describes a screw-mount hanger but does not list the fixings supplied.
